NEW AGE WOMAN WITH CRUTCH

  It was just before the fascing of Showa swallowed 
everything, when people sought for freedom, it was so to 
called Taisho Democracy period.
  The women's movement developed excitedly, women of various
characteristics called New Age Women appeared spectacularly.
  Shizu Shiraki, she was a new type woman representing the 
disabled. She was born in Sapporo, unhealthy by birth. 
Moreover, suffered tuberculoustic rheumatism after fell down
while climbing mountain, it caused her to have the right leg
severed when she graduated women's school. 
  She enjoyed making Tanka poems and verses or trying to 
make occidental movies as pastime in the hospital, then made
up her mind to be a writer making good use of her tragedy as
feritilizer.
  Her virgin work Woman with crutch and the second piece The
death at the age thirty-three, both of them dealt with the 
agony of having one's cut, received favorable assessment
from the literature world.
  In the real life, she got married with a painter Mr.
Kiyotsugu Uenoyama in spite of objections by her relatives, 
even she gave birth to a baby. She fulfilled the life with
strong will to accomplish it, died young at ten years 
earlier than predicted thirty-three.
  Her name is scarcely mentioned nowadays but she was a 
writer set side of Ms.Yuriko Nakajo(called　Miyamoto today).
