CHERRY BLOSSOMS, JAPANESE HARP(KOTO)AND MICHIO MIYAGI
There might not be a Japanese who don't know melodies of
koto like Variation of Sakura(Cherry blossom) known as Sakura
Sakura and serenely delightful tune Spring Sea.
Moreover, they are one of the most popular tunes abroad as
music representing Japan and also symbolize it.For that
reason, the composer Michio Miyagi is regarded as a world
famous musician.
He was brought up in Korea, had lost eyesight in his
childhood. He returned Japan alone and started professional
training of koto.
There might be some hardships until he distinguished
himself. But once his talent was approved and gave adequate
chances, his life became like a smooth sailing with
favorable wind. As composer, he created several famous
pieces including formerly mentioned two tunes, as player, he
contributed the development of koto performance, tried to
play ten koto in concert or play with other orchestral music
, changed the instrument from merely Japanese party
accessory to the one that fits large scale stage in the world.
He fell from night train and dead, it was a mysterious
accident. We noticed that he was one of the disabled only
that occasion.
